Recently I have picked up on listening to CAKE again, something I have not done for nearly a year. CAKE has a unique style, with monotone vocals and the use of brass instruments as well as guitar, drums, and bass. My current favorite song of theirs is “Shadow Stabbing,” one of their many songs in which the meaning of the lyrics is up for debate. Within their style, they have several more different types of songs. Their songs can be slow and somber, or upbeat and entertaining. Another interesting song, one of my other personal favorites, is “Comfort Eagle.” I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys trippy music that almost seems as if it messes with your head.
