New fund for musicians

The Edge (U2 lead guitarist) and Bob Ezrin (producer: Peter Gabriel, Pink Floyd, Kiss) have announced their brain-child, Music Rising, a fund dedicated to providing instruments to musicians affected by the recent Hurricanes on the Gulf coast. The initiative also has the backing of MusiCare, the recording academies charity foundation, which will be engineering the grants process.

Other parties in on the act are Gibson Guitar and the Guitar Center Music Foundation, who have announced that they’ll be teaming up with the likes of Ticketmaster, VH1 and MTV to design and produce a limited edition Gibson guitar. They will then donate the proceeds of sales to the Music Rising fund.

Thats killer! I know my company where I am employed voluntarily donated products that we distribute to companies that were affected, kind of weary about writing about work on blogs… never know who might read!
