New Single, “Horchata” released by Vampire Weekend
What do you think? VW are one of my favourite bands out there and are perspectively worth every penny from all angles. Their new album entitled, Contra will be released January 12, 2010 in the US and January 11 everywhere else. Let the countdown begin!
What I’m Listening To: The Violent Femmes
Hey there guys, I’m finally back up and writing again. I should be a lot less busy nowadays, so I will be writing more frequently again. Recently, I have been listening to The Violent Femmes. The Violent Femmes were formed in 1980, and recently broke up this year. Before the split, the band was comprised [...]
What I’m Listening To: Kanye West
Now before you get ahead of yourself and start telling me that Kanye isn’t an indie artist, I understand that. He is simply what I have been listening to this week for the most part. I am a huge fan of the beats and sampling that he uses in his music, along with the general [...]
What I’m Listening To: Owl City
First off, I need to apologize to those of you that come around and read my articles throughout the week, I haven’t been able to put out quite as many articles recently. This should be changing pretty soon, I apologized again if it takes longer than expected. Anyway, down to business. Lately, I have been [...]
What I’m Listening To: Ghostland Observatory
Lately I have been listening to Ghostland Observatory, a two man electro-rock group from Texas. They released their first album in 2005, titled “delete.delete.i.eat.meat,” an interesting name for interesting music. Ghostland Observatory has a style similar to The Bravery, with excellent guitar melodies and electronic beats. Personally, my favorite song is Sad Sad City, one [...]
What I’m Listening To: CAKE
Recently I have picked up on listening to CAKE again, something I have not done for nearly a year. CAKE has a unique style, with monotone vocals and the use of brass instruments as well as guitar, drums, and bass. My current favorite song of theirs is “Shadow Stabbing,” one of their many songs in [...]
What I’m Listening To: Matt & Kim
This week, I have been listening mainly to Matt & Kim. If you haven’t listened to them, I highly recommend it. Matt has a very different vocal style than most other singers out there today, which is one of the aspects that I like about this band, though it may not appeal to some people. [...]
DJ Shadow responds about DJ Hero
Today DJ Shadow sent out a message on his website, responding to his apparently unhappy fans about his involvement with DJ Hero. He specifically mentioned “know-nothing blogger[s]” and talked about his fans’ reservations with the game. Since I am a fan as well as a blogger, I’d just like to address my stance on the [...]
Hip-Happin Guitar Hero
I can’t say that I “play” Guitar Hero. I’ve played it—and it was fun—but I still don’t understand why people just don’t play real instruments. I get it for the most part, it’s a completely different experience and that you get to participate in the music, whatever. But I’ve come to accept it as a [...]
11 Electronica Albums You Might Have Missed
It’s difficult to hear every great album that surfaces as well as easy to miss them. Lucky for you, I’ve decided to collect eleven of what I believe to be some of the most unsung albums within the past couple of years. I hope you enjoy the selection and find some artists to fall in [...]
Fantastic idea for an indie video.
I stumbled across this on youtube a few days ago. Whilst not really indie related at all i think this would make a fantastic idea for a cheap indie video.
2 + 2 = 5… I concur.
One word: Radiohead. Radiohead is pretty much the best band on the planet (along with Lightning Bolt). No matter what mood I’m in, where I’m at, what I’m doing, I can always pop in one of the fantastic Radiohead albums and it will excite the hell outta me. If you’re reading this [...]
